CRITERION™ EMB Agar, Levine by Hardy Diagnostics is a selective and differential medium designed for the isolation of Gram-negative bacilli, including coliform organisms and enteric pathogens. The Levine formulation contains eosin and methylene blue dyes that inhibit Gram-positive organisms while enabling strong differentiation based on lactose fermentation.

Lactose-fermenting organisms form distinctive dark colonies—often with a green metallic sheen—providing fast, reliable presumptive identification in clinical, food safety, environmental, and industrial microbiology workflows.

As part of the CRITERION™ line, this dehydrated culture media provides excellent solubility, consistent color development, and robust microbial recovery, ensuring dependable results in regulated environments.
