HardyCHROM™ Staphylococcus aureus is a chromogenic medium designed for the isolation, differentiation, and enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus based on distinct colony color development. The medium utilizes chromogenic substrates that react with specific enzymes produced by S. aureus, allowing for rapid visual identification without the need for additional confirmatory testing in many workflows.
Staphylococcus aureus is a significant pathogen associated with nosocomial infections, food poisoning outbreaks, and serious invasive diseases. Many strains produce enterotoxins that can cause foodborne illness, while others are responsible for bacteremia, pneumonia, toxic shock syndrome, and meningitis.
