HardyCHROM™ O157 (E. coli O157), Chromogenic Medium, 15x100mm Plate
HardyCHROM™ O157 is a selective and differential chromogenic medium formulated for the isolation of enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157 from food, environmental, and clinical samples (for research and screening use only). The medium’s chromogenic substrates enable rapid and accurate detection through distinctive colony coloration, reducing the need for traditional secondary staining methods.
This formulation offers a highly selective base that suppresses competing flora while promoting the growth of E. coli O157. Presumptive colonies appear purple-pink on the plate, providing a reliable initial screening result that can then be confirmed with latex agglutination, antisera, or molecular testing.
Each plate is manufactured with optically clear, heavy-duty polystyrene for distortion-free viewing and durability. Plates are packaged in breathable sleeves to minimize condensation and maintain sterility. As a light-sensitive medium, HardyCHROM™ O157 should be stored and incubated in the dark. Free reusable Blok-Boxes are available to protect plates from light exposure during storage and use.
Features and Benefits:
• Chromogenic differentiation for rapid presumptive detection of E. coli O157
• Distinct purple-pink colonies simplify visual screening
• Supports downstream confirmation via latex agglutination or antisera testing
• Suppresses non-target organisms for cleaner results
• Optically clear plates allow accurate colony identification
• Breathable packaging prevents condensation buildup
• Durable polystyrene design minimizes breakage in transit
• Light-sensitive—store and incubate in the dark (Blok-Boxes available free)
