HardyCHROM™ SS NoPRO (Salmonella & Shigella), Inhibits Proteus, Chromogenic Medium, 15x100mm Plate
HardyCHROM™ SS NoPRO (No-Proteus) Agar is a selective and differential chromogenic medium formulated for the isolation and differentiation of Salmonella and Shigella spp. from stool, clinical, or environmental specimens—while inhibiting the growth and swarming of Proteus spp.
Traditional SS (Salmonella–Shigella) agars are often complicated by the overgrowth and mimicry of Proteus colonies, leading to false positives and costly downstream testing. HardyCHROM™ SS NoPRO eliminates this challenge through enhanced selectivity that suppresses Proteus species without compromising recovery of target pathogens.
By distinguishing colonies through distinct chromogenic color changes, HardyCHROM™ SS NoPRO allows for rapid and reliable screening of enteric pathogens. Salmonella colonies appear as rose to pink, Shigella as light pink to colorless, while Proteus spp. are effectively inhibited.
This formulation significantly reduces colony picking, subculturing, and identification costs by providing high specificity from the start—making it ideal for clinical, food, and environmental microbiology laboratories focused on accurate and efficient workflow.
Features and Benefits:
• Selectively isolates Salmonella and Shigella while inhibiting Proteus spp.
• Chromogenic differentiation allows easy visual recognition of target colonies
• Prevents Proteus swarming, reducing false positives and unnecessary work-ups
• Saves time and cost—reduces the need for TSI, LIA, or KIA tubes and ID cards
• Ideal for primary stool culture and enteric pathogen screening
• Increases specificity and efficiency in diagnostic workflows
• Ready-to-use format ensures consistency and convenience
