InSite® Rapid Environmental Listeria Test by Hygiena™ provides a simple, self-contained method for detecting Listeria species on surfaces in food processing and environmental hygiene applications. Each device includes a pre-filled, chromogenic liquid medium formulated with antibiotics, growth enhancers, and color-changing indicators that specifically react to Listeria spp.

Testing is as easy as swab, snap, and incubate — no additional reagents, pipettes, or lab equipment are required. After swabbing the surface, activate the Snap-Valve™, release the medium, and incubate the device. A color change within 24–48 hours indicates a presumptive positive result.

InSite Listeria detects 1–10 CFU/mL and demonstrates superior recovery of heat-injured L. monocytogenes compared to UVM and BLEB media. For confirmation, presumptive positives can be streaked onto selective agar such as Modified Oxford or Palcam agar for definitive identification.

This fast, affordable, and reliable system enables on-site detection of Listeria species without specialized training or equipment—ideal for proactive hygiene verification and environmental monitoring programs.
