The Whirl-Pak® Pre-moistened Speci-Sponge® Bag with Sterile Glove is a ready-to-use environmental surface sampling solution designed to improve consistency, speed, and contamination control during microbiological sampling. Each bag contains a pre-hydrated Speci-Sponge® and a sterile glove, allowing technicians to collect samples without introducing external contaminants.

The sponge is hydrated with 10 mL of neutralizing buffer, formulated to neutralize a wide range of commonly used surface sanitizers, including quaternary ammonium compounds, phenolics, iodine preparations, chlorine, mercurials, formaldehyde, and glutaraldehyde. This ensures accurate recovery of microorganisms from sanitized surfaces.

After sampling, the sponge can be returned directly to the bag for secure transport to the laboratory. Media may be added directly to the bag for enrichment, or samples may be expressed, pipetted, and plated according to laboratory protocols. Each unit is gamma-irradiated and packaged to maintain sterility, with a 24-month shelf life and no refrigeration required.
